Quote:

Zombies are the middle children of the otherworldly family. Vampires are the oldest brother who gets to have a room in the attic, all tripped out with a disco ball and shag carpet. Werewolves are the youngest, the babies, always getting pinched and told they're cute. With all that attention stolen away from the middle child zombie, no wonder she shuffles off grumbling, "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha."

Indie Film Review: THE LOBO PARAMILITARY CHRISTMAS SPECIAL (2002)

It was just blind luck that I came across this fan-film produced short film version of the D.C. Comics based The Lobo ParaMilitary Special (2002) that was produced by Sam Esmail and directed by Scott Leberecht.  Staying very true to original comic book by Keith Giffen, Alan Grant, and Simon Bisley this fan-film is 14 minutes of Lobo insanity as only a true fan-film can craft.

For those of you not familiar with the crazy story it concerns bounty Lobo (Andrew Bryniarski just before he became Leatherface in the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) who is hired by the Easter Bunny (Tom Gibis) to hunt down and kill Santa Claus (Michael V. Allen) who has become more important in the spirit of the holidays than anyone else.  What follows is a farce of epic proportions as Lobo must face off against the one man who ruined every Christmas for him.

The film stays unbelievable true to the original comic and you can tell that despite the low budget (or maybe even no budget) that a lot of heart went into the production to deliver a fan-film that every Lobo fanatic would love (especially since the real Hollywood film based on the character is still stuck in development hell).
Fans of the character will not come away disappointed as Bryniarski makes for the perfect Lobo and could even reprise the character in a larger budget production.  This is a fan-film worth searching out not only for Lobo enthusiasts but for those curious to see what fans can truly deliver if they put their minds to it.
